Tip #2

A lesson from the homeless

This is less a tip on how to save money and more a tip on what to do when you find yourself in an inconvenient situation. One evening last fall I found myself in a pinch. I was wearing a spring/ fall jacket and the temperature outside had taken a plunge with nightfall. I found myself to be more than just a bit cool while I waited for the late bus, in fact I was freezing. I was tired and cold and it hit the point where I just didn't care how I looked. Luckily I had a copy of our terrible school newspaper on me, so I began stuffing my jacket (as I think every homeless character in every movie does). I was amazed by its efficiency. So if your ever stuck without the right coat on you know what to do. You may get weird looks but it beats dishing out the money for a cab instead of waiting for the bus. Your wallet will thank you.

Tip #1

Cheap clothes for the small

For those of you who are short there is a cheaper alternative to buying your clothing at specialty stores; buy from the child's department. Many stores create childrens' clothing that is virtually identical to their adult line, but its half the price. So consider buying an XL kids over a XS adults. Also girls, don't be afraid to cross dress. Hoodies and running shoes are unisex (unless you really really need pink ones) boys clothing often runs larger than girls (this is especially the case in shoes), If you aren't quite small enough for the girls clothing head over to the boys department. Another benefit to buying childrens' clothing is that it sometimes comes with brand)guarantee that you won't wear it out before you outgrow it (Zeller's kidurable bra. This means free running shoes for life if your feet fit into a boys XL and your done growing. So next time you enter the clothing store head you know where to go. You may get a few weird looks but its well worth it. Your wallet will thank you.

cheap, freugal, thrifty

So this is my new blog, unlike my other blog (jordanpedde.blogspot.com) this one has a theme and will be regular unlike my other very erratic and very sporadic one (i hope). This blog will be composed of short entries containing tips on how to save money. It has been often pointed out to me that I have all sorts of random tips, I figure this is the best way to collect them.
